SEECP Ministerial / Minister Xhaçka: Albania committed to address any threats to the region

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, participated in the ministerial of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) held in Thessaloniki, Greece.

She praised the commitment of the Greek presidency of the SEECP for the successful fulfillment of the objectives, while outlining the importance of the process of enlargement and European integration of the Western Balkan countries.

Minister Xhaçka mentioned that the SEECP has become a multilateral regional mechanism that is facilitating the overall comprehensive political dialogue, towards regional cooperation and the path to the European integration.

” Threats to our economies, from the impact of the criminal war against Ukraine to all areas, but especially to our food and energy supplies, are now a source of serious concern. Albania is actively engaged in addressing these issues, first by playing, as it has always done a constructive and stabilizing role in the region, but thanks to its position in the UN Security Council, it is also able to have an impact at a more global scale, especially when it comes to food security”, she said.

The Minister also touched on the SEE 2030 Strategy, the Common Regional Market and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, while presenting the will of Albania to take over the presidency of the SEECP regional initiative for the period 2024 – 2025.
