The Republic of Kazakhstan is a unitary state with the presidential system of government. Under the Constitution, Kazakhstan is a democratic, secular, legal and social state which recognizes the man, his life, rights and freedoms as the supreme values of the country. Kazakhstan gained independence on December 16, 1991. Nur-Sultan is the capital city of the country. Kazakh language is the official language of Kazakhstan.

Diplomatic relations were established on September 21, 1993.

There is mutual political will for further intensification of bilateral relations, in areas of common interest.

Interest has been expressed in the advancement of bilateral relations, and on this basis to identify specific areas of interest in efforts for further cooperation, to institutionalize the legal framework in key sectors such as energy, industry and tourism, etc. It remains our interest to complete the legal framework for the concrete promotion of economic cooperation. Interest in making official visits has been expressed. On September 7, 2023, the first visit of the President of the Republic of Albania to Kazakhstan took place. Albania appreciates Kazakhstan’s intention to open an Embassy in Tirana, which would better help in promoting economic-commercial cooperation. Kazakhstan is on the list of countries whose citizens enter the Republic of Albania without a visa, for a short-term stay.

Cooperation in international organizations has been considered positively and of mutual interest. Albania requests Kazakhstan’s support for Kosovo’s membership in international organizations.
