Kuwait is located in the north-eastern part of the Arabic peninsula with an area of 17,818 km2. It has a population of 4,271,000 people of which only 31.3% are Kuwaiti. The official language is Arabic. The Independence Day is on February 25, 1963 while the Liberation Day is on February 26, 1991.

OVERVIEW

The Republic of Albania and the State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations on August 8,1968. They are intensified by the early ’90s and onwards. Both countries are represented by respective resident embassies. The Albanian Embassy was officially opened in October 2010, while the Kuwaiti Embassy was opened in September 2011.

BILATERAL RELATIONS

The relations between the two countries are very good. Albania was amongst the countries that supported the military intervention of the US – led coalition in the beginning of 1991, which very soon brought to the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion. The political – diplomatic dialogue between the two countries is led in a friendly spirit and there is a positive and favorable climate in terms of investment opportunities in Albania. Have been exchanges of official visits between two counties, where can be mentioned from Albanian side the visit of the Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Rama on November 2014, the visit of the former Head of Parliament, H.E. Mr. Meta in June 2014,

Between our countries existed an adequate legal framework with bilateral agreements on: economic cooperation, on the abolition of double taxation and investment protection, on health, on air transport, environment protection, lifting of the visa regime for the diplomatic, special and service passport holders, etc.

Both countries are members at a number of international organizations, having a good multilateral cooperation.
