Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Albania will continue its maximum efforts for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts in the OSCE area.

Resolving conflicts and efforts to prevent them will be at the top of our agenda, starting with renewed action to contribute to the peaceful resolution of the crisis in and around Ukraine, which remains the most urgent security challenge in Europe.

Albania will continue to support the OSCE commitment to conflict resolution, supporting the efforts of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, in accordance with the International Geneva Discussions on the situation in Georgia, and the mechanisms provided by them, as well as the Process for the resolution of the Transnistria conflict

On the other hand, our country will be committed to promoting good governance and anti-corruption principles throughout the space covered by the Organization.
Albania will simultaneously address the joint efforts of all participating countries of this organization, in the service of preventing human trafficking, as well as fighting the culture of impunity in general.

Albania will have a special priority in 2020 also promoting the universality of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
A special role during the Albanian Presidency will naturally also be played by the youth, which has been defined as an inter-dimensional priority, not only due to the fact that Albania can lead here based on its example, but also based on the need for the youth not to to be treated more simply as an upcoming generation, but as a generation that needs current attention and for strengthening its role in society and institutions in general.

Also, it is worth mentioning that during the Albanian Presidency special attention will be given to strengthening the role of women at the international level in peace processes.
We all believe in a successful Presidency throughout the year 2020.
