Political dialogue: The Treaty of Friendship signed on December 15, 1923, established diplomatic relations between Albania and Türkiye. The relations between the two countries, based on friendship and traditional ties, are excellent and are at the level of Strategic Partnership, as well as enrichment of institutional cooperation in all fields and levels. During 2022 and the beginning of 2023, the high-level political dialogue has intensified.

The second meeting of the Group for Political Dialogue led by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Hasani and the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Fidan, was held in Tirana, on January 29, 2024

On February 22, 2024, the High-Level Cooperation Council headed by Prime Minister Rama and President Erdogan met for the first time in Ankara. In the meeting, bilateral cooperation in areas such as security, defense, renewable energy, economy and trade, infrastructure, tourism, environment, and other relevant issues were been discussed more deeply and concretely. During this meeting, several agreements were been signed.

The year 2023 marked the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which were commemorated by a rich and joint calendar of scientific and cultural activities and activities, both in Albania and Türkiye.

Albanian-Turkish relations cover a wide spectrum, constituting a complete institutional framework of cooperation in terms of economic and commercial ties, development assistance, sectoral exchanges, and normative cooperation. Albania and Türkiye cooperate closely in the field of security and the fight against international terrorism.

A large community of Albanians lives and works in Türkiye, the new diaspora after the 1990s and the old diaspora serve as a bridge in the further strengthening of friendship and cooperation between our two countries and peoples.

Economic Cooperation: The positive and growing trend of Turkish investments in our country continues in the key areas of the Albanian economy, such as energy, telecommunications, the banking sector, etc. By the end of 2023, the trade volume has reached 850 million euros and Türkiye has become one of Albania’s main trading partners. Turkish investments amount to about 3.7 billion euros, while Turkish companies present in the country employ more than 15 thousand Albanians.
