Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

Today, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met with the ambassadors of the European Union Member States in Albania to discuss recent developments in the country.

During the meeting, Minister Hoxha underlined the Government’s unwavering commitment to democratic freedoms, including the fundamental right to peaceful assembly. He stressed that violence, vandalism and attacks on public or private property cannot be accepted as legitimate means of political or any other form of expression, a principle that applies in Albania as it does throughout Europe.

The discussions also addressed the importance of preserving institutional stability, respecting the rule of law, and ensuring the legality and proportionality of all actions taken by public authorities.

Minister Hoxha reaffirmed the Government’s readiness to engage in dialogue at any time, anywhere and with anyone who is not involved in acts of violence. He described dialogue as a democratic value and the best way to overcome differences, address concerns and move forward together.

Turning to the European integration process, the Minister emphasised that membership of the European Union remains a strategic national objective.

“Difficult moments should strengthen our determination rather than divert us from the reforms, democratic standards and responsibilities that stem from our ambition to join the European Union,” he stated.

Minister Hoxha welcomed the open exchange with European partners and their continued engagement with Albania in pursuit of the shared goal of a future within the European Union.
