The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Elisa Spiropali, continued her visit to Washington with a series of meetings in the United States Congress, focusing on further deepening Albania–U.S. cooperation across multiple dimensions.

The Minister was received by the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, U.S. Army veteran Brian Mast, who is actively engaged in advancing U.S.A. – Albania relations. Discussions highlighted cooperation in the field of security as NATO Allies, as well as the shared commitment to stability in the Western Balkans, including Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective.

Minister Spiropali also met with Congressman Jimmy Patronis to discuss the potential for cross-sectoral cooperation, particularly the expansion of U.S. investments in Albania, especially in the energy and infrastructure sectors. The discussions also emphasized the importance of infrastructure connectivity through the strategic Corridor VIII project for NATO security and military mobility.

The Minister further held meetings with Congressman Ritchie Torres, Co-Chair of the Albanian Caucus and a strong supporter of the Albanian – American community; Congressman William R. Keating, Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Europe of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; and Congressman Keith Self.

Minister Spiropali expressed her appreciation to the Members of Congress for their continued attention to the Western Balkans, underlining that sustained U.S. engagement in the region remains essential for democratic development.

Later, Minister Spiropali was received in the United States Senate by Senators Steve Daines, Gary Peters, and Elissa Slotkin, where Albania’s role as a close partner of the United States was reaffirmed.
