Political Dialogue: Italy remains one of Albania’s main strategic partners and the cooperation is based on exceptional historical, cultural and economic ties. The dialogue between governments is stable, strong and integrated through deep bilateral cooperation in many sectors and fields. Albanian-Italian relations continue to develop in the spirit of good neighborhood, and linked to our deep strategic interests, close NATO partnership and a common European perspective.

The Strategic Partnership between the two countries (sanctioned in the Declaration of Strategic Partnership signed and entered into force on February 12, 2010), as well as the strong support of Italy in the path of integration of the country in the European Union, further confirm the excellent level of relations between our two countries.

In the relations between the two countries, an important element is the Albanian and Arbëresh community in Italy, but actually also the Italians in Albania, who make an important contribution to strengthening the traditional and new multiple ties between the two countries, as well as a perfect, example of coexistence, tolerance and harmony between peoples.

Economic-trade cooperation: Italy remains Albania’s main trade partner and one of Albania’s main donors as well. There is willingness to promote the presence of Italian investments and investors in strategic sectors of the country’s economy.

Concerning the Albania-Italy economic cooperation, a cooperation mechanism has been set up, such as the Permanent Joint Committee for Economic and Social Affairs Albania-Italy. In July 2023, the 2nd meeting of the political level of the Permanent Joint Commission for Economic and Social Affairs Albania-Italy was held in Rome, under the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Antonio Tajani and the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, where wos confimrd the will of both sides to further strengthen cooperation in all areas of common interest, as well as the investment opportunities in many potential sectors, such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture and especially tourism.

So far, there is an intensive cooperation in the TAP project, as well as for Corridor 8, which has a strategic importance not only for the respective countries, but also for the Region and for the energy security of the EU.

With Italy was recently signed the agreement on pensions, as an obligation and right to Albanian, Italian and Italo-Albanian citizens, who have worked with dedication for 30 years and have contributed to the economy and social progress of our two countries.
