Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

As part of the European Forum in Alpbach, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger.

Minister Hoxha expressed his appreciation to his Austrian counterpart for Austria’s continued support for Albania’s path towards European Union membership.

During the meeting, the unwavering role played by Austria in promoting and supporting the European perspective of the Western Balkans was highlighted, including through its leadership of the “Friends of the Western Balkans” group.

Minister Hoxha added that “our economic partnership is stronger than ever and that Austria remains one of the leading strategic investors in Albania.”

“Together, we discussed ways to further expand this footprint in areas of mutual interest,” Hoxha stated following the meeting.

According to Minister Hoxha, the close ties between the two countries are also reflected in the growing number of Austrian visitors to Albania each year.

The meeting also addressed the increasing complexity of the European and global geopolitical landscape.

“Albania and Austria stand together in advancing regional stability, strengthening resilience against emerging hybrid threats, including FIMI, and contributing to a stronger, more resilient and united Europe,” the Foreign Minister stated.
