New York – On the margins of the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha signed, on behalf of Albania, the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime.

With this step, Albania reaffirms its commitment to stronger international cooperation in addressing a threat that increasingly affects citizens, businesses and public institutions.

The Convention establishes an important framework for enhanced international cooperation, facilitating the sharing of electronic evidence and strengthening collective efforts to prevent, investigate and prosecute serious crimes in the digital space.

Minister Hoxha stated that, for Albania, building security, resilience and trust in the technology space is an integral part of the broader digital transformation agenda.

“As technology continues to create new opportunities for growth and innovation, we must ensure that our ability to protect those who rely on its potential can grow in parallel with these developments,” said Minister Hoxha.

“Albania remains committed to working closely with its international partners to advance these principles and contribute to a safer, more secure and more trusted digital environment for all,” added the Foreign Minister.
