Starting from 20 October 2026, Albanian citizens applying for an employment visa in the United Arab Emirates must submit a certificate of criminal record issued by the competent Albanian authorities.

The document must first be legalized by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, in accordance with the simplified legalization procedure. Before being submitted to the Emirati authorities, the certificate must also be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

Albanian citizens who are currently in the United Arab Emirates on a short-term stay and wish to convert their status to an employment visa have a 45-day period to change their residency status
