The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, participated in the meeting and discussion between Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Albanian community in Michigan, United States of America.

In a post on the social media platform X, Minister Hoxha described the meeting as an open and direct dialogue on Albania, Albanians, and everything that brings them together.

Minister Hoxha announced that Albania will soon open a Consulate General in Detroit, with the aim of bringing the state closer to its citizens and providing improved consular services, greater interaction with and support for the Albanian community, as well as strengthening economic and trade ties with local and state-level stakeholders and authorities, in furtherance of national interests.

“We are committed to doing everything within our power to ensure that our public services are, wherever there is a need, close to Albanians, as functional and efficient as possible,” Minister Hoxha stated.

Highlighting the strong ties between the Albanian community in Michigan and Albania, Minister Hoxha underscored the importance of preserving the Albanian language, identity, and heritage, as well as passing them on from one generation to the next.

“Wherever Albanians are, Albania is there too. The Albanian state should be there as well: close to them, at their service, and standing alongside them.”
