Elida Petoshati has served as Chief of Staff to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania since March 31st, 2026. Previously, she was Director of the European Union Department at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (February 2025–March 2026). In nearly 30 years of experience in the diplomatic service, she has held senior leadership roles, such as Director for the Region and Neighbouring Countries, Director for Italy, Greece and Turkey (also covering the Holy See, Malta and Cyprus), as well as Secretary General of the Albanian National Commission for UNESCO and La Francophonie. She was Albania’s Ambassador to Canada (May 2011–February 2016) and to the Kingdom of Denmark (November 2018–February 2024). Throughout her career and roles, she has made significant contributions to Albania’s policy on the Western Balkans and the wider region, regional cooperation, intercultural dialogue and European integration. She holds a PhD in Philological Sciences from the University of Bucharest, is Associate Professor at the University of Tirana and speaks five foreign languages fluently.
