Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, met for the first time with the new Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, Ambassador Sofia Moreira de Sousa.

The meeting featured an essential exchange on Albania’s EU accession process, including preparations for the next milestones in the country’s European journey and the importance of maintaining the pace and momentum of the negotiations.

Minister Hoxha underlined Albania’s continued commitment to delivering reforms and advancing decisively across all negotiating chapters.

He stressed that the accession process must remain firmly based on merit, results and mutual trust. Albania is doing its part, with the determination, discipline and sense of purpose required by its European ambition.

Minister Hoxha emphasized that Albania’s approach is clear: through reforms, the country is bringing more Europe to Albania every day, while moving with determination and clarity towards the conclusion of the negotiations and the historic objective of becoming a member of the European Union within this decade.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Hoxha welcomed Ambassador Moreira de Sousa to Albania, stressing that her success will also be a success for the special partnership between Albania and the European Union.

He further underlined that enlargement is a shared success: more progress for Albania, but also a strategic investment in a stronger, safer and more united Europe.
